The Gebidem dam is supplied by the waters of the Aletsch glacier, waters which are very rich in sediments. Each second the turbines of the Bitsch power station are fed with 55 m³ of water loaded with 10 to 13 kg of sand, making a daily average total of almost 40 tonnes.
