Fionnay - Repair of six units

Repair of the three MFO and three Sécheron generating sets at Fionnay power station began in 2008. It will be complete in 2012. This repair work is part of a global programme of extraordinary maintenance projects after more than 40 years of service. The scope of the work is as follows:

• complete renewal of control-command
• cleaning of rotors
• repair of bearings and of the lubrication and refrigeration system
• servicing of exciters

For MFO generating sets, the work also covers repairs to the alternator stator and the replacement of poles.

Special feature

To ensure the operation of alternators over a sustained period of time, the new stators provided for the three MFO units are manufactured to a one-piece design with no stator seal. They are assembled on site by HYDRO Exploitation fitters.
