Miéville - Renovation of generating set 2

Renovation of both generating sets of the Salanfe SA power station in Miéville is part of a major overhaul taking place after more than 40 years of service. This renovation work will take place in the winter of 2009-2010. It mainly involves:

• the stators and poles of the alternator rotor
• the valve and its fittings
• turbine regulator pumps
• installing an exciter with rotating diodes

Special feature

Various incidents occurred on generating set 2 while the renovation of sets 3, then 2, was at the planning stage and preparatory work was in progress. Contrary to what was planned, priority was given to the defective generating set 2, thus making it possible to limit downtime.

Renovation of generating sets at the Salanfe SA power station demonstrated the flexibility which HYDRO Exploitation is able to bring into play when necessary.
